Jekyll & Hyde in Concert at the Mohegan Sun

It is Friday morning, Sept 10, 2004.

Finally it has stopped raining up here at Mohegan Sun, and yes, there is a SUN shining now! But in the dark of the Mohegan Sun Cabaret, the sun shone on the people who had braved the storm to get to see the Jekyll and Hyde in Concert Show. There was no place to 'Hyde'! (and who wanted to?)

This version is Jekyll/Hyde, Lucy, Emma, and an eight piece band. All these elements combine to make our old favorite a prime candidate to become our NEW favorite. Those who saw the concertized reworking at Marlton in June are already familiar with what has taken place production-wise, and that has not changed too much, except for the limitations imposed by the size of the Cabaret Stage.

Henry Jekyll is more coy, more human in interacting with Emma and Lucy. Edward Hyde is a monster, snarling, glaring, rasping. He had the audience 'at the gasp' more than once with anger and lightning bolts his eyes were throwing at us. Rob's voice is more fluid, with more power and depth in every note. How can that be possible? Kate Shindle is a powerful Lucy, leading on her hoped for conquest. Victoria Matlock is more gentle, but not frail as Emma.

Look, no matter what I say, any one says... you will make your own choice... so come on and do so. The show is here at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret until this Sunday, September 12. Take a short vacation, come here to Connecticut, and take a trip back to Victorian England. Time is short, so do it! Check the Mohegan Sun Website for info.
