Were You There?
BROADWAY'S LEADING MEN with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
June 3 - 5, 2005

ROB was one of three men who took part in this concert series with the renowned Indianapolis Pops. (For the record, the others were Mike Eldred and Ben Davis.)

Well, it was a hoot, a blast, and four great shows.

ROB had a chance to sing some of our favorites, as well as some different tunes. He slammed the audience against the backs of their seats with a rendition of MOMENT that was even more powerful (how is that possible?) because of the Symphony Orchestra behind him. He did a TROUBLE that had us all laughing, and I am telling you, he could have charmed the scales off a fish!

We all know Rob as Valjean (Les Mis), but his STARS would have caused any Valjean to stop running from this Javert, just to hear his song. In the Cage Aux Folles segment, he did a poignant, yet powerful, I AM WHAT I AM.

(For those of you new or first time visitors to this site, I will say again... this is the Rob Evan website, and in the case of any review, "objectivity" is not my strong suit.)

The various selections had different clothing, and the sets were enhanced by how Rob looked. He was suitably oily in a red jacket and straw hat for TROUBLE, and the tails (in white and black) were just plain classically classy!

It is hoped that this show will find a home in other symphony venues in various areas of the country. If the show should find its way near you, jump at the chance to join the crowd.

Rob can capture a stage by just walking onto it. He can capture an audience by starting to sing. He did just that four times in Indianapolis this weekend.
