Were You There?
The Dream Engine
Joe's Pub (NYC)
February 12, 2006

Well, it is the morning after the (latest) night before.

Specifically, last night, in the immediate aftermath of the Great Blizzard of 2006, the NEW DREAM ENGINE made its debut at Joe's Pub in NYC. In spite of the ice, snow, cold, wind, the venue was very full, and those folk who braved the elements were treated to a great and exciting show.

There were some new songs, some new lyrics, and the vibe was fresh and alive. This was casual, jeans, tee-shirts, jackets, and that was what the performers were wearing. You know, it does NOT matter what they were wearing, they sang like they meant it. Rob put his own powerful signature on BREAK IT, and WHAT PART OF MY BODY, and believe me, the room did not need any heating system after that!!

This is Rob doing the music of Steinman, and doing it hot and with passion. This is NOT the Robert Evan who captured us all with an incredible Jekyll and Hyde, and yet it really is. The voice has matured like a fine wine, deeper and richer, and yet even more powerful. He easily worked the room with those throaty notes, and then segued seamlessly into the light and cute SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

Well, there is not any snow falling right now, but it is cold and icy underfoot. If you want to warm up in a very special way, get yourself to Joe's Pub, and hear for yourself what I heard last night. There is a show tonight, February 12, and then two in March.

Access the new Dream Engine site for more info.

Hope to see you there,
Linda Russak
