Over the Top: The Music of Jim Steinman

There was a different and exciting show at Joe's Pub in New York City this Sunday and Monday nights. Rob starred in Over the Top: The Music of Jim Steinman. (I need to catch my breath before I can continue. Oh my!)

Rob Evan is not only a talented singer/actor, he is a most versatile young man. He looked modish and rock-star in casual jeans and jacket. The music of Steinman is anything from the Book of Meatloaf to Dance of the Vampires. Rob sang some of all of it! And he sang it with verve, passion and panache, a formidable hat-trick to be sure.

Joe's Pub is small, hazy, old and dark. Rob lit it up, big time. He sang solos, and also with Mandy Gonzalez and a trio of super back-up singers, but the small room and even smaller stage belonged to Rob. The applause and 'hooting' were at times deafening, but I feel justified in saying that a good time was had by all.
