The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber - The Kennedy Center, Washington, DC

It is only fitting that we start a new site with a brand new review.

The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber has been the attraction for holiday week at the Opera House of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. It is a beautiful venue and has been beautifully attended. Rob is part of a stellar cast, and they mesh beautifully.

Most of us know some/much of the music of ALW, but we do not often hear Rob sing much of it. He rocks on Gethsemane, brings a passion to it that we know he can. It is a beautiful rendition, bring a tissue or two. He does Sunset Boulevard with a jaded look, a sardonic grin, and a vocal that produces 'Joe Gillis' as he was meant to be! Every word tells us probably more than we want to know about this 'Joe'. Rob brings a new set of meanings to All I Ask Of You, and I am sure that we would do whatever he asked just to hear him keep on singing!

Rob has been given the two new songs from ALW's Woman in White, which is only onstage in London. What a delivery of the power ballads! One is a solo, Evermore Without You - it is almost worth the ticket price by itself! The other is a tender, yet powerful duet, I Believe My Heart. Some voices/people were just meant to sing some songs, and these are two of them for Rob. The entire cast sings Love Changes Everything, and that ends the program.

Look, folks, this is a new year, and a lively and sparkly new website. But, it is still Rob Evan's website, and I am who I am.

This was a great holiday week... busy and exciting.

Thanx for reading this far, and HAPPY 2005!
